Welcome to Head Designs by Dewey!

I am Don Dorfman also known as Puhb1 or nw_guy4_fun on the internet at MSN tech talk or the V-twin forum. I have been in the automotive, machine tool, and motorcycle business off and on my whole working career. I have crewed on drag race teams and played with heads, carburetion, and fuel injection since the early '70s. I am HD PACE Gold and was at one time PHD certified. I have worked at the dealer as well as at an independent shop. My first HD was the 1981 1340 FXB. I learned a lot just keeping that running let alone worrying about hot rodding. Later when the EVOs came out I got the hot rod bug. It is catchy you know! With the help of Ron Paugh and his mechanic I learned a lot about the EVO motor and what made them work on the first Dyna in 1991, which was especially challenging at 5,000 ft altitude (Reno). I've always ported my own heads after that bike but would never do them for others because I was too slow.

I purchased the head porting business from my buddy and a great guy Dewey Jelen. I have worked very hard to learn his techniques and have brought a good base knowledge to the table so that I can hit the ground running.

First and foremost I want to thank Dewey and all of the customers that have put their faith in my abilities and the legacy that Dewey has developed over the years. The man is funny! Fresh glazed donuts are the man's passion. I tried one of my Seattle imports, a bran muffin with walnuts, No Sale! Wal-Mart fresh glazed all the way.

I also want to especially thank the many head porters that have offered encouragement and tips. Now we will port some heads and have some fun. I love this stuff and intend to keep it that way. Learning all the time.

I spent five days training with Dewey and many months of gathering data and many hours on the phone talking with the man before that. Dewey is a wealth of knowledge and the dynos on his website are testimony to that fact. I have over 50 more that never were posted that are equally impressive. All of this development was done without a flow bench, however I do own one and all of our Pro Street and higher level porting work will be done with the help of that tool and the Velocity Data Acquisition software that goes along with it. I am not changing the product in any way and will continue to offer the best value for the dollar spent.

Thanks for your support,

Don Dorfman
